It's a wrap

A baby wrapped in swaddling cloths, presents lovingly wrapped under the tree, a year wrapped up. Christmas always brings out the wrapping, doesn't it? The most precious gift came wrapped in flesh that first Christmas day. I still find myself in awe at the gift God gave. I know I can never fully know what it must have been like for Mary and Joseph that day in the stable, but I do get little glimpses in everyday moments. Like holding one of the boys and thinking, "This child is so precious. What potential God has wrapped inside of them!" Surely Mary had these same thoughts, maybe even wondering how she could teach the son of God anything.
This Christmas was so fun celebrating Jesus's birthday and watching the boys unwrap their gifts. May we carry the wrapped gifts of love and kindness within us into the new year. There's someone out there dying to open it up.
