Has it really been 5 years?! I remember that cute little cowboy's first birthday like it happened last weekend and now here we are...Caleb is 5! He's so smart and funny and generous and imaginative and kind. It's been such a joy watching him grow into this inquisitive, curious kid who loves to build and try new things. Just can't believe 5 is already here!
And in true Caleb fashion, his b-day is no less than one giant, fun filled day, but then again, everyday with Caleb is that way. John took the day before Caleb's b-day off (which we hope turns into a tradition for each child's b-day) and we went to a chocolate factory. Why? Well you have to know Caleb to understand that machines and how they work, not to mention chocolate, really gets him going. And the fact that we read Curious George and the Chocolate Factory just about every other day thanks to Judah doesn't hurt either.

That Caleb came out of Cerreta Chocolate Co. in downtown Glendale saying, "This is the best day," made the whole 20 minute look at the factory worth it. But there was more...a homeschool meet and greet at Pump It Up and Caleb's choice for dinner -Breakfast!

Of course, we can't forget the festivities this morning with from scratch Blueberry Birthday Muffins, his sandbox gift and making the cake. Caleb wanted strawberry cake so I found a yummy recipe from the founder of those lucious looking cupcakes, Sprinkles, tweaked it bit and we have one (well 12) delicious strawberry cake frosted with our homemade strawberry cream cheese frosting. So yes, even birthdays turn into from scratch experiments cause you know I made them with whole wheat flour.


As Caleb licks his frosted fingers and says, "I can't wait for six", I sigh and tell him to enjoy 5, he shrugs and runs off to play. For now, 5 will have to do.
