Bending toward the Light

We are learning quite a few fascinating things in our study of plants. The boys especially love that our kitchen has evolved into a science laboratory. There's seedlings sprouting in the window, our food coloring with celery experiment on the counter, all the seeds we've been collecting just about everywhere and, of course, fruit and veggie scraps waiting to be tossed into the compost bin. But there's one experiment that has given me the greatest lesson and a precious teachable moment. I told the boys that plants will bend toward the light because it's a source of food for them. We did an experiment with our seedlings in the window. They were already bending toward the window so we turned them away. Caleb would have sat there all day to watch the plants move! By lunchtime, those little seedlings were making their way back toward the window and the light. A little while later, they were fully bent back towards the window. Our wonderful Creator filled this world with so many analogy's. We, like those little seedlings, should strive to "bend toward the Light". He is the source we need to live and without him, we miss out on receiving the valuable "nutrients" of grace, forgiveness and love that He provides. Wonder what else we'll discover in our garden?
