The words we speak
Another week is under my belt in the Ministry of Motherhood book study, and it has proven to be such a great time in the Word. What great reminders I received this week of just how much I am loved by my heavenly Father and that truly this job of motherhood is one of the ways He is using me to impact this world and give the gift of grace to my children. I have three amazing little blessings that look to me for everything. I could let the world dictate their upbringing, but I've chosen, and by God's grace, to train them up. This past week's study was all about the power of our words. I know we all know it. We all know that we can build up our child with a word of encouragement or tear them down in an angry moment. Some days it feels like I say these three phrases all day long, "Stop that", "Don't touch (hit, pull, smack, etc.) your brother", "How many times do I have to call your name?". In reading this week, and in reading what other moms have to say, I want to be more conscience of encouraging my kiddos. A challenge of sorts, to really get to the heart of a tugging match and speak life into the situation. Yes it takes more time, yes it's harder than yelling, "Quit messing with your brother!", but so worth it in the long run. If there's anything I've learned in this life, it's that nothing, absolutely nothing, comes without a little effort and hard work. Here's to week 5!
