MM- Mexico

We are loving our journeys through Latin America! Today we are traveling to Mexico. Our neighbors to the south are pretty well known here in AZ, sometimes controversially, but we look past all that to see a people, a people who are needy in body and in spirit. So we begin as we always do by learning about Mexico and praying for the nation. Having visited the country many times, I had many pictures to share with the boys, some showcased the beauty of the country while others made real the poverty. The boys are also aware that we have been a part of sending toys, clothing and short term missions teams to Mexico through our church, so that made talking about the country rather easy. By now, the boys are also very eager to do a hands on activity or taste testing, too. So we made clay pots just like some native people might make to sell at the mercado.
We used modeling clay for our little masterpieces. Judah is making a bowl.
While Caleb works on a cup with handles.
It will take a while for these to dry out. The boys are anticipating actually using these. Hmmmmm..guess we'll have to see how good of potters they were.

And I couldn't resist the all out Mexican dinner fiesta. Mexican rice, beans, homemade tortillas, platanos (plantains) and fresh salsa. No store bought Mexican here. The boys LOVED every last bite. I've really never seen them so eager to put together a burrito. Maybe they were hungry from making all the food, or maybe they just really like Mexican. I don't know! But I do know that their little tummies were full and so are their hearts!
We'll finish up Latin America next week.
